On February 12, 2010, in Property, rental, by admin

Once you do get a property such as Home, Apartment, Shop etc and you are fine with the rental amount and other conditions you would need to complete some paper work to get the Rental Property in Goa.  The Paper work required remains more or less the same for every type of property, however it can change a little bit from the mentioned below.

For Renting a Property in Goa, you would need to submit your identification proof with photograph, last address, and two reference from people you know in Goa and you would be required to sign a Rental Agreement.

Identification and references information is supposed to be sent to Goa Police and rental agreement is required so that you as a tenant and your landlord are satisfied with the terms and conditions of the rental property. Do make sure to read out the rental agreement in full so that you do know what are your liabilities towards the rental property (such as paying electricity bill, paying water bill, paying society charges (if applicable), etc) and your rights on the rental property. You rights on the rental property may state something like, your landlord is supposed to give you let’s say 2 Months Notice, if he / she wants the property or something like that and the liability may be that you as a tenant need to give the landlord a notice of let’s say two or three months notice before leaving the rental property.

Apart from the rent of the property, landlord in Goa may ask you to pay some deposit (which might be in multiplication of your monthly rental) which can be refundable provided at the time of leaving the property, there are no damages to the property and you have paid all your dues. This Deposit amount will also be recorded in the Rental agreement which requires yours and your landlord’s consent so do make sure that you do read and understand all the paper work when renting a property in Goa.
